GATSOS CLOCK UP £20m IN PROFITS
Profits
from speed cameras have risen by a third last
year to £20million.
Across the country, 1.85 million drivers were
hit with £60 fines, grossing £111
million.
The profit from fines during the 12 months of
up to April was up by 37 per cent from £14.6
million last year and is more than the profits
in the three previous years put together.
Last night the Association of British Drivers
said: “Profits are up by a third and I wish
deaths on British roads were down by a third,
but they are not. These cameras are good at raising
cash but not so good at saving lives”
There
are now around 6000 fixed Gatso speed cameras
across the country.
